Dr Ilse Rooman

Senior Research Officer; Group leader, Pancreatic Carcinogenesis Group, Cancer Program, Garvan Institute of Medical Research

Email: i.rooman 'at' garvan.org.au
Research Group: Pancreatic Carcinogenesis

Prior to joining Garvan’s Cancer Program, and while studying exocrine pancreas and pancreatic cell differentiation with a focus on regenerative therapies in diabetes, Ilse did a post-doc in a more cancer-oriented environment. As such, she developed a growing interest in changes of exocrine cell differentiation that might predispose these cells for cancer development.

Ilse leads the Pancreatic Carcinogenesis group, which is focused on identifying key drivers and biomarkers of pancreatic cancer through studying the earliest cellular changes in the exocrine pancreas with the aim to define novel screening and therapeutic targets.
