Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP)

The Garvan Institute Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) is designed to introduce students to a research laboratory at an early time in their career. The program will encourage students to work in the lab environment and run their own independent research project. The student project can be experimental and based in a laboratory, or analytical involving data analysis and bioinformatics.

This program will allow full-time and part-time university students to undertake a casual, paid research placement at the Garvan. The application process is competitive as there are limited spaces. Call for applications will be sent out twice a year. Applications should be submitted via an application form in May (to start in July) and December (to start in February) of every year.

Application Form - click to download.

Prior to advertisement each program will provide a list of projects for prospective students. Prospective supervisors may also submit a form stating particular subject areas they would prefer a student to have.
