The Ageing Brain - Latest Breakthroughs in Neurological Disorders

The increasing prevalence of neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's and other dementias in our fast-ageing society is fuelling the need to find new and more effective therapeutic approaches for these disorders. Garvan's Neuroscience program is investigating these diseases from a range of approaches with the aim of better understanding the neuronal systems involved to ultimately pave the way for new therapies. At this seminar Garvan researchers presented their latest research and findings into neurodegenerative disorders including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. Speakers include: Dr Kharen Doyle and Dr Adam Cole from the Garvan Institute of Medical Research; Professor Perminder Sachdev - Scientia Professor of Neuropsychiatry University of New South Wales, and Director, Neuropsychiatric Institute, The Prince of Wales Hospital; Dr Bryce Vissel, Garvan Institute of Medical Research and Dr Stephen Tisch - Staff Specialist, Consultant Neurologist, St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, Conjoint Senior Lecturer UNSW.
