Ongoing medical research over the last 2 decades has seen the cancer survival rate of many common cancers increase by over 30%. However cancer remains a major cause of death in Australia.

Our Work

 

Garvan’s research is diverse, exploring the interplay of different body systems and organs in the disease process, with a view to developing cures for major diseases that afflict millions.

Research topics fall under some broad groupings including: Cancer, Diabetes and Obesity, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease, Osteoporosis, Arthritis and Asthma, Immune System Disorders and Pituitary Disorders.
