Biography
Robert is an experienced flow cytometrist with biological and engineering skills. He has expertise in high end instrumentation (including world's first 10 laser sorting and analysis instrumentation).
Robert undertook his undergraduate and post graduate degrees at Sydney Uni. Graduating with a first class honours for work on an ID1 overexpressing mouse model of prostate cancer and receiving a Master degrees for a thesis entitled "Molecular Profiling of Human Prostate Cancer". During his master thesis Robert learnt flow cytometry while working at the Centenary Institute of Cancer Medicine under Dr Adrian Smith in the Advanced Cytometry Facility.
During his time at the ACF Robert was in charge of ensuring all flow sorting and analysis are performed in a timely and accurate manner, maintenance of instrumentation, teaching junior flow cytometry officers and training research personnel in the appropriate use of flow cytometry. In addition to his role in flow cytometry, Robert was also the primary contact for multi-user affymetrix array platform, ensuring the machine performed optimally and users were appropriately trained in sample preparation, machine usage and basic data analysis techniques.
At the end of 2011 Robert moved to the Garvan Institute to take over the management of the Garvan Flow Cytometry Facility.
