Charlie Teo Foundation Brain Tumour Bank is a NSW Health Pathology certified Biobank that processes, stores, retrieves and disseminates high-quality and well-annotated samples for research projects following informed consent from participants diagnosed with brain tumours. Participants were recruited by world-renowned neurosurgeon, Professor Charlie Teo, with samples collected at time of surgery.
Together, the collection and processing of these samples, with the data that is made available for use to the research community, makes it possible for brain cancer to be studied in the hopes that this increases the rate of research and accelerates research findings for the benefit of brain tumour patients.
Garvan Institute of Medical Research is proud to house the physical infrastructure where the brain cancer samples are stored in the Charlie Teo Foundation Brain Tumour Bank. The invaluable GBM and other high-grade brain tumour samples collected by the Charlie Teo Foundation Brain Tumour Bank are a key driver of the success of our research collaboration.
