At Garvan, our scientists are working hard every day to find better treatment options for a range of diseases that impact millions of Australians. Our mission is to harness all the information encoded in our genome to understand biology and predict, prevent and treat disease – so everyone can live healthier lives.
Giving in memory can be a powerful way to honour a loved one who has passed, and a lasting way to celebrate their life whilst also contributing to this crucial medical research.
Julie-Anne’s sister Kerryn sadly passed away from pancreatic cancer at age 44. She was determined to make sure other families and people wouldn’t have to suffer in the same way, and decided to raise money for medical research. Her goal was to raise $10,000 for Garvan through an online tribute page set up to honour Kerryn’s memory.
Kerryn’s husband Matthew, sons Jake and Colby, parents Ian and Glenda, Julie-Anne and their friends have now raised over $11,000 that will make a difference for people facing this terrible disease.
