It may not always be possible to hold your fundraising event in a face to face environment. A virtual event is one that takes place online rather than in a physical environment. Follow the steps and tips below to successfully host your virtual event.
Step 1: Choose your fundraising event style
- Challenge yourself – Set a physical challenge such as walking, cycling, shave your head, yoga, reading books –the sky’s the limit!
- Movie night – Host a virtual movie night with your friends and family. You could ask for a donation for the amount of a movie ticket.
- Virtual drinks / dinner – Donate your gifts and catch up via one of the video platforms to connect with your friends. Your friends could donate the money they would normally spend at a restaurant or bar.
- Celebrations – Have your plans been cancelled? Celebrate and connect with your friends over video and instead of gifts, ask for donations.
Step 2: Register your fundraiser
Register your online event. Create and edit your personal fundraising page.
Step 3: Set your goal and ask for support
Finalise the details and share your online fundraiser with all of your friends, family and colleagues via Facebook, email, Instagram or any other platform. Let them know what you’re doing and why. Get the ball rolling and donate to yourself.
Step 4: Raise funds and have fun!
Ask everyone you know to donate. Every dollar you raise will help to support Garvan’s research.
