Vanesa Maria Quintano Ramos
Dr Quintano joined the group in 2025 as a Research Officer and is also a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at UNSW Sydney. She holds a PhD in Molecular and Regenerative Medicine and Master’s degrees in Chemistry and Microbiology. She is the recipient of a prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Global Fellowship, awarded by the European Commission. Her research focuses on translational models of breast cancer, with expertise in invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) and triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). She develops and applies patient-derived xenografts (PDX) and organoid platforms to study estrogen receptor biology, mechanisms of endocrine resistance, and to test novel therapeutic strategies. In addition, she has pioneered nanotechnology approaches for biosensing, including patented wearable sensors for non-invasive biomarker detection. Her cross-disciplinary expertise in PDX models, TNBC translational research, and biomedical nanotechnology positions her to drive innovation at the interface of molecular biology and clinical application.
