Energy Expenditure Group

Our group is investigating the benefits of neuropeptide receptor-targeted strategies in treating obesity.

Group Leader

We are interested in how neuropeptides regulate appetite, energy metabolism, physical activity, body composition and glucose homeostasis, and whether a neuropeptide receptor-targeted strategy would confer benefits for obesity treatment. The neuropeptides we are currently focusing on include the families of neuropeptide Y and RFamide peptides.

In addition, by using an activity-based anorexia mouse model established by our group, we are investigating the central mechanisms underlying the paradoxical hyperactivity often observed in patients with anorexia nervosa.
